well, I definitely like it, but the question arises why Nick turned into a zombie after about an hour or more, although the period from infection to resuscitation as a zombie takes from 1-5 minutes

This was briefly mentioned in Day of the Madness on a news clip.
"Infection duration depends on the size of the wound and its proximity to a major blood vessel."

So Nick's medium-sized wound on his lower back would take longer to spread as opposed to large bites to the neck or chest.
